Reception - Friday, November 24th, 6:00pm - 8:00pm EST

The organic farms of Costa Rica inspired this compost series of paintings made from the harvest of the land and were created to be returned to the earth. Canadian artist J. Claveau uses watercolour materials including coffee, achiote, chocolate, pepper, paprika and turmeric from the organic farm Finca CAPICACOA. She believes that soil quality is a powerful life force but it is also an invisible and undervalued form of prosperity in farming. This series aims to honour and highlight the hidden value of labour, the wisdom and attention of farmers as well as the contributions of animals, insects and plants within the cycles of composting, all ingredients required for healthy soil.

There will also be so much more to experience, such as interactive art pieces, some delicious nibbles and a Fair Trade coffee station, where you can sample some amazing coffee from Las Nubes, Costa Rica!

Place: Zacks' Gallery (Stong College 109)
Date: November 24, 2023
Times: 6-8pm

Foods and refreshments will be served.

This exhibition will run from November 24th to December 7th.
