Please read the following form carefully and follow all instructions.

The candidates will be assessed based on their contributions to Stong College from the period of Fall Term 2023 to August 2024.

The applications will close on January 29, 2025 at 11:59PM.

The recipients will be contacted in February.


In order to be considered for a Stong College Bursary or Award, you MUST complete the Student Financial Profile (https://sfs.yorku.ca/aid/sfp) AND complete this supplemental application. Failure to complete either will result in the removal of your application from consideration.

Please ensure you meet the eligibility (e.g. GPA, citizenship, etc.) requirements for the award(s) you are applying for or else you will be disqualified.

Stong College is offering the following bursary and awards:

Olga Cirak Alumni Bursary - Award Value: up to $1,500

The award will be given annually to any full-time Stong student currently enrolled in the University who have completed at least one full academic term. The recipient must have demonstrated a high level of commitment and involvement in the college, financial need and have an overall average of 7.00(B+) or better. Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or landed immigrants.

Virginia Rock Award - Award Value: up to $1,000

The Virginia Rock Award, named in honour of the first Master of Stong College, is funded by the entire college community. This award recognizes a distinctive combination of academic achievement and devotion to Stong College and its ideals. To be considered, applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 8.0, be an active contributor to Stong College and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or landed immigrants.

The Stong College Council 50th Anniversary Award - Award Value: $100 to a maximum of $1250

The Stong College Council 50th Anniversary Award will be awarded to students affiliated with Stong College, as it currently exists, who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, and residents of Ontario, who demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a continuing student with a minimum B (6.0) grade point average, who has demonstrated commitment to the Stong College student body and/or the community.


Stong College Student Government Heart of a Spartan Award - Award Value: $500

The 20/21 Stong College Student Government (SCSG) established the Heart of a Spartan Award as one way to recognize the dedication of Stong Constituents who are not only present, but also have had an impact on the SCSG community. Through this award we hope to encourage students to keep coming back, keep having fun, and keep growing within our community. Our goal is to foster the relationships of our constituents. The Heart of a Spartan Award is just one of the many ways we aim to say thank you.

Applicants must be affiliated with Stong College for a minimum of one year on the time of application, a minimum GPA of B (6.0) and demonstrate financial need in their Student Financial Profile.

PLEASE NOTE: Preference will be given to those who have participated and engaged in multiple Stong College events. If the applicant is an SCSG Council Member (Directors, Representatives, Webmaster, and Speaker) they must ONLY list events attended that are not required by the SCSG Constitution/Contract.

Current members of the SCSG Executive and SCSG Chair Members are not eligible to apply for these awards.


Stong College Student Life Award - Award Value: up to $2,000

Awarded to three undergraduate continuing students who exhibit leadership qualities, have contributed significantly to student life at Stong College and have achieved a minimum grade point average of 8.0(A). Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent resident or protected persons, residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need.

  • Applicants MUST submit two (2) Nomination Forms to be considered:

    Each application must be accompanied by two (2) Nomination Forms (NB: The SCSG Heart of a Spartan Award requires only one (1) Nomination) to be completed by the nominator(s). Nominators can be peers, CCSC staff, or professors.

    Please provide the form link to your nominators. You cannot nominate yourself.

    All nomination forms must be submitted by January 13th, 2025 at 11:59pm.
