Career Spotlight Registration - Shahad Aali - Thursday April 1, 2021 @ 5PM-6PM

Calumet and Stong Colleges are proud to host the "Career Spotlight" event. Career Spotlight is an event that connects students with alumni about jobs/careers.

We would like to invite students of programs affiliated with:
1- Calumet College (Global Health; Health Policy, Management & Informatics; Psychology and Schulich),
2- Stong College (Kinesiology & Health Science, Nursing)

Wondering what to do with your Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Health? Want to meet York Alumni and other professionals working in the field?

Connect with Faculty of Health graduates currently enjoying their careers and get the inside scoop on what it’s really like to put your degree to work. During this spotlight conversation with one Faculty of Health alumni, a professional will share their personal stories about breaking into the field; what knowledge, skills and experiences helped them succeed in their job; and what types of opportunities are currently available. The conversation will be moderated by a Calumet & Stong College team member and followed by an open forum where students will have an opportunity to ask questions.

Spotlight Speaker : Shahad Aali
Strength & Conditioning Professional and Personal Trainer, Turf Athletic Training Club

Spotlight Speaker Biography: Shahad is a Strength and Conditioning Professional and Personal Trainer at Turf Athletics Club. A long time ago, he tore his ACL claiming that it was one of the best and worst things to ever happen to him: "The worst is self-explanatory, I'm out of commission. Obviously it's not ideal; my aspirations for playing professional baseball went down with the health of my knee. However, with the systematic degradation of my knee came new found knowledge and acceptance of what I can control. If I never tore my ACL, I probably never would've become a trainer. I never would've learned physical rehabilitation, strength performance, human anatomy. I never would've met the very people that inspire me to be the best I can be. I found a pivot, a silver lining, a new beginning. I hope to help you find yours if you need it too."
